How It All Started…
Hello everyone, I’m Travis Bogard, the heart and soul behind Cheyenne Garden Fixtures. Today, I want to share with you the journey that led me here, a tale of passion, discovery, and the unexpected fusion of strength training and art.
From Function to Form
As the owner of Above the Rest Training Systems in Cheyenne, I’ve always been dedicated to providing a unique training environment for strongman athletes. Our gym is renowned for its diverse array of training implements, with Atlas Stones being a central feature. Initially, my goal was simple – create enough stones to support our athletes’ training needs. Armed with just a bucket and a steel bar, I set out on what I thought was a straightforward path.
The Learning Curve
My first attempts at making Atlas Stones were, to put it mildly, less than perfect. They were rough, layered, visibly porous, and crumbled under use. I saw others creating not only functional but beautiful concrete pieces, and it sparked a question in me: How do they do it?
This question led me down a rabbit hole of research and experimentation. Each new stone was an opportunity to learn and improve. Slowly but surely, the quality of the stones began to evolve. They became smoother, more durable, and visually appealing. It was a transformation from mere gym equipment to pieces of art.
A New Chapter
It became clear that these stones had potential beyond the gym. While we continued to produce them for strongman athletes and gyms, I wanted to share the beauty and craftsmanship of these spheres with a wider audience. And so, Cheyenne Garden Fixtures was born.
Gardens, unlike gyms, are places of peace and beauty. They are the perfect setting for these garden spheres, where their aesthetic can be fully appreciated. Starting Cheyenne Garden Fixtures was a leap into the unknown, an expansion of my craft into the realm of garden art.
Join Me on This Journey
Writing this, my first blog post, is more than just an introduction. It's an invitation. I’m inviting you, the reader, to join me on this journey. Cheyenne Garden Fixtures is not just a business; it's a passion project that blends the boundaries between functionality and artistry, strength and beauty.
So, follow along as we continue to create and share these beautiful orbs. Each one is a step in our ongoing journey of exploration, learning, and creation. This is just the beginning, and I can't wait to see where this path takes us together.
