My First Planter
Transforming a spark of inspiration into a tangible reality is the essence of creativity. For me, Travis Bogard, the journey to designing a unique garden fixture began not in solitude but amidst the vibrant community at my gym. Here’s the story of how a casual conversation ignited the creation of a product that would seamlessly blend strength with beauty—the garden sphere planter.
From Idea to Innovation
It all started with a new face at the gym, someone eager to enhance his strength and fitness. Amidst the usual hustle, a collection of my garden spheres caught his eye, sparking a conversation that would lead to an unexpected revelation. He shared how his wife longed for a garden planter robust enough to withstand the notorious Wyoming wind—a challenge I couldn't resist.
Fuelled by this conversation, I reached out to some of the people in my network passionate about gardening, to gather insights on what makes the perfect planter. Their feedback was invaluable, providing a clear direction for what I needed to create.
Crafting the First Planter
With a blend of excitement and determination, I embarked on designing the first planter. Drawing upon the techniques I had honed while creating garden spheres, I applied the same principles to develop a planter that was not only functional but aesthetically pleasing. The result was more than just a container for plants; it was a piece of art capable of standing its ground against the elements.
A New Addition to the Garden Fixtures Family
The success of this initial planter sparked a flurry of ideas. I began to envision a line of garden planters, each embodying the strength and beauty of our original garden spheres. Now, we offer 1-gallon planters encased in a sturdy 13” diameter stone, and the journey doesn’t stop there. I’m excited to explore various sizes and functionalities, expanding our collection to cater to diverse gardening needs.
Beyond Planters
The versatility of our design process means the potential for innovation is limitless. The same techniques used to enhance the visual appeal of our garden spheres—polishing, staining, dyeing—are equally applicable to these planters. This opens up a world of customization, allowing each planter to be a unique statement piece that reflects the individuality of the garden and its owner.
Conclusion
This journey from a simple conversation to the creation of a garden fixture that marries durability with design highlights the power of community and creativity. It’s a testament to how listening and engaging with the people around us can lead to innovation. As I continue to experiment and expand our offerings, I’m reminded that the best ideas often come from the most unexpected places. The garden sphere planter is not just a product; it's a symbol of collaboration, a fusion of strength and aesthetics born from the collective insights of a community.
